AfroPunk is the blackest, most beautiful, most magical time of the year for many “carefree” black boys and black girls who love music, fashion, and fellowship. Artist SunBLVD from Chicago, IL attended the weekend long festival and captured photos of the overwhelmingly great styles of black magic.

We danced through the dust

Kicking dirt to the sun

Watching it rain down like gold

Hips swerved to the Afro rhythm

Kings and Queens

Thorns and Thrones

Robes and Roses

All of us getting free

None leaving as they came

Everyone looks like someone I know

Existing in the past, present, & future

At once

For once, I feel here

Your heart intertwined with mine

When the beat drops

And we get down

Finally our Kingdom has come
