Malika is a photo series by Darryl D. Terrell. His camera creates portraits of the powerful leaders of the Black community, Black women. Black women’s backs and shoulders hold responsibility far more than anyone could imagine. As the backbone of the community and supporters of loved ones, Black women keep their community protected under their fiercely nurturing arms. This project was inspired by the founders of the Black Lives Matter Movement, Patrisse Cullors and Alicia Garza.
