Reminiscing of Home with Ursula Siker of Jeff & Judes

I love food. It's the best thing I've ever experienced. I think I came from a household where food wasn't necessarily as important. As an experience, it wasn't really a thing. It was just a time for us to be together more so than anything. But the experience of understanding what good food is became something that I really started caring about, particularly after I moved to Chicago.

Ever since that move, I've been working in the service industry. I just love it. It's a thing. It's all-encompassing. It's creative. It's a form of art in its own way. But, it's also something that's literally meant to be consumed. And, for me, I personally struggled with mental health growing up and always felt like I was never good enough with anything that was more subjective, like music or art. With food, it was so temporary, and then it was literally gone. So, I liked that something I was creating, I was physically manifesting that somebody would literally eat, and then I could never think about it again. It's temporary. It nourishes you. People hang out over it. It’s awesome.
